One of the biggest ways we can advocate for parents is by normalizing the challenges of raising children with mental health care. We do that through participating in speaking engagements, offering training and interacting one-on-one through events.

If any of these sparks your interest, contact us to start a conversation! SHHIP requests a suggested donation for speaking and training events, but does not charge for services.

Speaking

Invite SHHIP to your next event. We would love to share on a variety of topics with your audience as well as participate in panel discussions, workshops, breakout sessions and seminars. We’re able to speak on the following topics:

  • Parenting Children with Mental Health Needs
  • Navigating the Mental Health System
  • Post-Adoption Issues
  • Foster Care and Adoption Issues
  • Mental Health Self Care
  • Advocating for Your Child

Training

SHHIP is actively seeking to partner with organizations to teach others about caring for children with complex mental health issues. Training can be in person or virtual. While we do not charge for training, we do have a suggested per person amount to help us cover costs.

Training is available for:

  • Churches/Family/Civic/Friend groups on caring for a specific family that has long-term care needs.
  • Churches who want to get involved with caring for parents of children with mental illness
  • Churches/organizations who want to partner with a local psychiatric care facility.
  • For Post-Adoptive parents on what to expect after the adoption decree is issued.

Events

We love events! They are one of the best ways to share our mission with communities throughout the region. We also travel light, requiring only a table and a chair. Let us know about your next event/ information fair or conference and we would love to try to participate with you.
